Mothers’ Knowledge and Reported Practice Regarding Inhalation Therapy for their Children Suffering from Croup

Background: Croup is one of the most common causes upper airway obstruction in youngchildren. It characterized by sudden onset barky cough, hoarse voice, inspiratory stridor andrespiratory distress caused inflammation secondary to a viral infection. Mothers’Knowledge and Reporting Practice constitute major factor helping achieve successful control ofcroup children. Aim: assess mothers' knowledge reported practice regarding inhalation therapyfor their children suffering from croup. Design: A descriptive analytic design was used accomplishthis study. Settings: The study carried out inpatient units at pediatric department outpatientpediatric clinic affiliated Benha University Hospital Specialized Pediatric Hospital.Subjects: convenient sample 100 mothers accompanying with croup previouslymentioned settings. Tools data collection: Two tools were used: Tool (1) Arabic StructuredInterviewing Questionnaire Sheet including two parts: a) Mothers characteristics. b)Mother’s about therapy. (2) Observational check lists, assessmother's therapy, physiotherapy care fever. Conclusion:More than half studied had inadequate unsatisfactory level practiceabout therapy .The low incorrect mostlyaffected residence (rural), educational mother, age (less 30 years more 40years), occupational status (housewives) dis attending training courses. recommendedand emphasized importance of: Improve provideadequate education cause, signs , symptoms, risk factors, complications andtreatment focus on encourage role media, nongovernmentalorganization health workers
